Reincarnation dreams are easy to distinguish from other dreams because of setting details. You and others in the dream will likely wear unfamiliar clothing and the dreamscape will appear old or futuristic or foreign in some other way. You'll have a sense of yourself as someone else rather than as the dreaming self you're accustomed to identifying in your nightly excursions.
Often unsettling, the dream story may include the manner of your death as the previous personality. You will likely recognize the otherness of the dream as suggestive of a past life. If you're lucky, your dream might include verifiable personal details such as names, places, or times.
A friend of mine from my online dream group, Lorelei from Ohio, relates a reincarnation dream with partial verification. She says:
I once dreamt of walking to a convenience store where my mother was my child. She rode her bicycle beside me. As I went into the store, I felt very self conscious because I had one leg slightly longer than the other and thought people could tell.
I told my mother of this dream and she informed me her mother did have one leg slightly longer. She said it was not noticeable but her mother was self conscious about it.
My maternal grandmother died ten years before I was born. This dream was my first clue. It is possible she was sharing her consciousness with me but I have received many more clues since that suggest a past life as the explanation.
Because Lorelei's past life dream involved a family member, some might assume genetics accounted for the dream. The memory might have passed down like brown hair color. Although this could be true, scientists don't know everything yet about genetic influences.
As you might expect, more stories of reincarnation either in dreams or awake occur in cultures which accept it as a philosophical idea or as part of the religion, for example, Buddhism, Hinduism, as well as some practitioners of Christianity, Islam, and Judaism.
Announcing dreams happen in many of those cultures. The pregnant woman or a member of her family dreams a family member intends to return as the newborn. Often the newborn is named for the returning family member. Sometimes the newborn carries a birthmark or other identifying mark that matches the previous personality's birthmark or other wound.
Research has supported some of these stories. Ian Stevenson wrote a book on the subject called Reincarnation and Biology.
The study of reincarnation has been one of my passions. Although I have had dreams that might include past life content, none contained much detail. As part of my personal serch, I've written a series of novels where the main character evolved from a reincarnation memory of a lifetime I lived in England in the 1700s. I knew place names but not enough detail to verify through records, however I felt a strong emotional connection to the woman, who ran an inn and was abandoned by her husband.
My friend Susan, an acupuncturist, dreamed a similar scenario although she knew the other person in her dream. She dreamed she was a peasant woman in Russia around the turn of the twentieth century. As she hoed crops in a field, a strong man abducted her and kept her prisoner, abusing her physically and sexually. She identified the abductor as the man she was dating in her present life.
When Susan told her boyfriend about the dream, he confessed to having a passion for Russian music although he had never been to Russia. A love relationship did not grow from this reincarnation--type experience, but the two remained friends for many years. Susan enjoyed the friendship and felt emotional catharsis from it as if the man had needed to atone and she allowed it.
Whether the past life information presents in dreams or in waking life, much research has been conducted on cases involving children by investigators at the University of Virginia. In hundreds of cases children gave correct details about a previous lifetime, information they could not have known through ordinary means.
The past life material might present as nightmares, particularly in young children.
The small son of Bruce and Andrea Leininger had recurring nightmares involving a plane crash. Eventually they learned he believed himself to be a World War II fighter pilot who crashed in the Pacific. .
They verified information the boy provided about the previous lifetime and wrote a book about their discoveries called Soul Survivor: The Reincarnation of a World War II Fighter Pilot. The Leininger boy was not related to the man whose past life he recalled. Such examples present more compelling evidence than ones like Lorelei's or mine..
As with the Leininger boy, reincarnation dreams or nightmares often reoccur in a way that forces the dreamer to attend to the problem. .
Psychologists and counselors use hypnotherapy as a technique. They hypnotize and regress their patients to the previous lifetime. Sometimes the problem is resolved by greater self-understanding, whether or not verification in records is possible. .
My experience about the woman in England came at a time in my life when I had divorced and needed to establish myself as a high-functioning single person. I drew strength from her personality and confidence that I could make it on my own..
If a past life dream comes to you unbidden, there is probably some unresolved issue in your present life provoking it. Look for similarities and differences between the dreamed lifetime and your present circumstance. Think through what you could learn if the past life personality were a teacher, helping you find new ways to express yourself in this lifetime..
Here's a Tip
• If you've had a dream that has some of the characteristics of a past life memory, ask your dreaming self for more details like names of people, places, or important events. Do an Internet search for what you discover.
• If you've never had such a dream, ask for one. Your dreaming self is always there.
I think I had a dream like that this morning. I was very lucid and realized I was being one person and then another. I didn't know anyone in the dream, but I asked them, "What is my name?" in one of them. They told me it was "Dikal". I was in different places and seen objects I was not familar with. During one dream, I asked what a piece of art was and they told me, I wrote it down but didn't recognize my own handwriting.
ReplyDeleteAt the age of 55 I still have the same reoccurring dreams I have experienced from a child. Always the same place, village, people that I know when I am asleep. I wish I could draw the houses, shops, the events. It's like a parallel universe. I'm not experiencing the same 'story' each night but as though I'm going home to have another life.
ReplyDeleteI've tried to remember the names on the sign posts, buses, shops, the people I knew really well when I'm there but I have never been able to.
If you still live in the same village now it would likely be that your dream is informing you of over-familiarity with a place that has few opportunities to enrich your life. Your dream is positive in that your mind, body and soul are distancing themselves away from 'stale energy' - places can keep us from developing ourselves if we allow ourselves to be caught up in events/people that do not evolve in positive ways.
DeleteI had a lot of negative thoughts about myself and how I was almost worthless, but as I started to become more confident, the dream hit me. I dreamed that I was in a dark tunnel accompanied by a tiny fish that I named Yui. As we reached some ladders of what now looked like we were in a sewer, I found myself as a little kid in an aquarium. I looked at the tank in front of me and there was Yui. For some reason I cried in the dream, as I was so happy to see him/her. After that reunion, I was taught by Yui, who I found out was male, what truly happens after death. I saw myself floating in darkness toward some flowing streams, and as I got closer, they were schools of manta rays. Yui told me about himself and others of his kind living on for generations.
ReplyDeleteAfter that, I saw to large manta ray human amphibians. They looked to be the keepers of the world. But as I finally got close to them, they looked at me, and I felt myself being spun around. But then I started to miss the things of my past life. I woke up feeling sad, knowing that each life is precious and that you should treasure each one.
I dreamed of my own present self Death, i dreamed i was gonna die in a car crash on a October 21 what year i am not sure, and i was reborn as a girl with all my memories from right now. Would that be possible?
ReplyDeleteJust last night I had a very odd dream. It lasted probably days in my head but was more of me seeing milestones in my life but it happened like this:
DeleteHad a whole life, got married, driving got in car crash
Reborn, got married died in car crash
Reborn, stayed away from who I married, died alone, woke up.
It has really confused me because it was people I knew and places I knew but it was all a different time. I don't know if it was future or past but it was different.
there is a truth in dreams, and certain parts do happen.
ReplyDeleteI dreamt about such things before, but the odd thing is it's always of the opposite gender from me....i.e. lately it's been I get hit by a train and die and then I'm reincarnated as a guy. I'm transgender and wonder if it has anything to do with that, but the oddest thing is it's always some fictional character I wind up as and in my latest dream we were "moving things around" like packaging things and stuff.
ReplyDeleteNicest information!!! I'll be enchanted to greatly help due to what I've learnt from here.go here

ReplyDeleteSorry, I'm going to reply to your comment, because I can't figure out how to make my own. I know I'm blind. Anyways, my dream started in another, bland looking world, where I apparently had to complete a set of puzzles if I wanted to live. I completed the puzzles and arrived in my room. I walked outside, and my mom said good morning, then called me a name that wasn't my own. Only then did I realize that I was younger t han I was before the puzzles, and my younger sister wasn't in existence. The dream comtinued at the pool with my mom, and I decided to tell her that I was my past self. She said she knew. The dream continued where I met I nice man named J ack, and we played together. Then the dream ended.
DeleteI had a dream years ago about reincarnation and I have never forgotten it. In the dream I was a fourteen year old girl, living in a time which I can best describe as medieval. It was at least a hundred years ago. I was wandering alone in a forest and came upon the smouldering ruins of what had been my home. It had been invaded by enemies and burnt to the ground. My family had all been killed, although there were not bodies to be seen. I looked at what had been my mother's closet and knew she was dead. I felt sad. I kept wandering alone through the forest. I heard a splashing noise, as I was near a river. A soldier on horseback came lunging up the bank from the river and he stopped his horse to look down at me. His horse was normal in every way except for the eyes, which were huge blank staring eyes like that of a toy. The soldier then rode off without speaking. I kept walking through the woods, and met with a man and a woman. The woman held me down while the man raped me. They both then killed me and I felt myself rising up into the sky, out of the forest. I felt an unseen presence with me. I looked over the top of the mountains and could see a modern day city, with cars and high buildings. The presence told me I could go live in that time if I wanted to. I woke up.
ReplyDeleteI have had a reoccurring dream for years where I am trapped in a car in a river which is filling with water and I know I'm going to die. I always wake with a feeling of panic and anxiety. This morning my four year old told my other son I had he had really long dream last night. Later as we were driving to school he started yelling don't drive near the river, we will die. I asked him what he meant and he described my reoccurring nightmare. He added that it was a long time ago when he was old, he said he was 21 then and added that we were married then and we died in the car in the river. I asked him how does he know all this. He replied I know lots of things!! He said this in a tone of an older person and it was really matter if fact.

ReplyDeleteLast night my dream was I caught in car crash accident and passed away, I went to say goodbye to my loved ones but they can't hear me. And then I was sucked into a rotating vacuum and I could see wild animals running in the savannah. I might be born into wild animals, my guess.
ReplyDeleteI have been dreaming for the last 3 days of seeing myself dead in a car crash as a 10-12 year old. Mind you i am 45. I remember standing on the outside of the investigation process of the crash. The man standing next to me is telling me it didnt happen like this and i repeatedly kept saying but it did look i am dead and he cant hear me. Then i wake. In my subconscious i know the truth that this crash did genuinely occur and that i was at the front of the vehicle at the time of the crash and my body is now at the back of the car am i can see myself dead, but i cannot place when. I just know that i am this age and its really confusing me at the moment. Any thoughts would be appreciated. ( have never been in a car crash)
ReplyDeleteI had a dream that I had a baby and he could talk right away and said things about people that are gone. My grandpa Art. He said his name was Ben and he was not a child. I was not creeped out it felt real. I was only concerned for him and what others would do to him if he kept sharing. Very weird.
ReplyDeleteI had a dream
ReplyDeleteI was reincarnated but i still lived in my own family. I saw the grief of my family because they lost the old me but they didn't know that I was me...
When I realized that i was me, I didn't told it to anyone (i kept i to myself). When my family talked about the old me, my father said he didn't care and that it was better that the old me was dead. My mothers reaction I don't remember but my sister had a lot of grief.
Is there some kind of meaning behind my dream?
It is possible you dream is involve in reincarnation? And someone you dream is part of your past life?

ReplyDeleteI had a very vivid dream about me reincarnating into my granddaughter. I saw her, looked like me as a child and some how my son knew that she was me but his wife would not be the mother my son would raise her alone. She will be borne on 2027 when my son would be 53. which is exactly what happen with me; my father was 53 when I was borne and he raise me alone.
ReplyDeleteMine was about an old neighbourhood friend called Samantha who I lost touch with years ago. In my dream, she suddenly died (stopped breathing) and reincarnated as a pet Guinea Pig I once cherished immensely. However, the pet also not breathing in my dream(in a deep sleep),until I nurtured it back to life.
ReplyDeleteMy baser instincts to love, heal and protect (even the dead)in my dreams, surely signifies that I must have come from native American/Inuit ancestry in a former life?. I do have distant native ancestry in real life so not sure if I am trying to reconnect myself in some way with it?
I like the name of this blog.. Out of the Psychic closet. It is very creative.
ReplyDeleteI had a dream a few years ago where I was running down an alley and I get shot in the back as I'm climbing this fence in the middle of the alley, and then everything gets dark and my whole body is just like numb and i feel like I'm awake I know what just happened but I cant move. But then I wake up in my dream and it's a different room and it's bright outside and I live as this girl for a day (which looks very similar to my girlfriend now???) but this girl was rich and she had a pool outside and then the dream gets fuzzy after that. My theory is either my subconscious wanted me to know this girl before I did or maybe my subconscious wanted to tell me what I want in life (being rich). Idk can anyone help?
ReplyDeleteI had dreams about living in a terrible situation in Alabama. I was in a terrible trashy family - frankly, I was like why am I here with these people in Theodore,AL. I remember I crashed a car through a church sign and that was the end. I live nearby and I always wonder if I went to the church that it happened (1960s) , would they remember? As a teen, I was reluctant to drive not really knowing why. Now I know why, I was alive before but didn’t remember. Due to this dream and one other dream, I went to a hypnotist that specialized in regressive therapy. The other dream was a dream where I was escaping in a wagon with my husband (now husband) from our small farm in Virginia.
ReplyDeleteThe only dream that was confirmed was the VA one. The other never was confirmed but other info I never knew came out. I was a man once fighting the French. I saw the French flag which at the time I did not recognize but in research it was the Oriflamme - flag of St Denis. The Also, that the Virginia story was also part of what I had to work through.
I dreamt that my love and I reincarnate in next life and meet again at a temple. He is no more. Are we going to reincarnate ? Can anyone please interpret
ReplyDeleteI have a recurring dream or rather nightmare every year around either the beginning or the end of summer. Its as if I am floating above the scene watching while also living the incident, it is set in ancient Egypt, I am surrounded by guards who appear to be rushing me to safety as winged lions with birdsheads fly around me, there is ash and lava rocks falling all around, I look to one side and see the sphynx quaking, people are screaming, I look the direction I am being ushered to and I see a large river(presumably the Nile), as I am looking I see a small boat in the river with what looks like palm trees along the shore that have caught fire, I am knocked to the ground and feel myself scream as I see one of the guards snatched up by the lion birds, blood sprays me all over and I feel terror, the lions are clawing and climbing up the pyramids which are now stained and dripping with what appears to be blood, I am watching all this from above while the guards rush me to the river, the guards are visibly scared but appear to be protecting me. We finally reach the small boat and we start sailing away watching the city burn and fall, my heart is pounding and I am so terrified I cant speak, I look around to express my gratitude to the guards who now look extremely grim, there are crocodiles everywhere, I turn one last time to look at the city and I feel myself being pushed overboard by the guards, I am underwater in shock looking up at the boat, I cannot breathe and one of them stans me with a spear, I feel pain and betrayal in my mind, I see my blood gush and cloud the water, a crocodile clamps his jaws around my torso, the last thing I see before waking up is my blood clouding the water and then blackness. I dream this dream EVERY year exactly the same always the beginning or end of summer and it disturbs me for days sometimes weeks after
ReplyDeleteI had a dream where it was being explained to me that I was looking after a damaged soul who has been reincarnated into my now daughter. She has server special needs and is nearly 22.
